At « Carrefour des Arts » on Canal Académie, we already devoted a program to this subject, mainly through the Renaissance artists (listen to our broadcast in French : Nativité et adoration des mages).
We now concentrate our attention on the Masters of the seventeenth century, thanks to the presentation by Mrs. Marie-Anne Dupuy-Vachey, art historian and specialist of the seventeenth century.
Is there a link, a common spirit between all these masters of the XVIIth century ?
For Marie-Anne Dupuy-Vachey, this period is mainly related to the Counter-Reform. A spiritual movement that created a more emotional style, contemplative and internalised than the Renaissance style, the approach of which was more intellectual.

Mrs. Dupuy-Vachey selected for us some of the most important masters of the seventeenth century who immortalized the wonders and the miracle of the Nativity and the Adoration of the Kings through the brush of painters such as :

- CARAVAGGIO (Michelangelo Merisi, Milano 1571-1610 Porto Ercole)
The Adoration of the Shepherds, Museo Nazionale, Messina, Sicily
